Our lab studies fungal and bacterial diseases of perennial crops and develops practical management strategies for California growers. Our research focuses on grapevine, kiwi, olive, persimmon, apple, pear, avocado, citrus, strawberry, and blueberry, with work spanning pathogen biology, diagnostics, molecular detection, and field disease control.
We conduct annual fungicide and biological product trials for powdery mildew, Botrytis bunch rot, summer bunch rot, sour rot, and pear scab, along with in vitro fungicide screening, to provide current data for growers and industry partners.
Through diagnostics, extension, training, and close collaboration with growers and advisors, we deliver applied solutions for trunk diseases, fruit rots, cankers, and other emerging diseases.
Our lab also implements integrated pest management programs to prevent and manage emerging pests and diseases at Disneyland, and provides hands-on training to their personnel.
